Help with fussy eating

Feeding kids is HARD!! There's no shame in admitting that. Even as a child nutritionist, I find it hard to put everything into practice every day. There are days when my child will eat only 1 food, or when they refuse all vegetables – it’s a normal part of feeding little ones!

Just because eating is something that everyone does, doesn't mean that we don't all need a little extra help from time to time. Especially when you're also dealing with the stresses that come with being a new parent or managing changing behaviours in your toddler. Asking for help, to take control of mealtimes and enjoy the time you spend at the table is SO valuable, when you think of how many hours you spend as a family eating together.

Getting help with mealtimes, weaning or fussy eating is the right thing for you if:

  • You started introducing solid foods and found it more challenging than you expected

  • You are anxious about the volume or variety of foods your child is eating

  • You are feeling stressed and frustrated about how much your little one spits out and throws food rather than eating it

  • You find yourself worrying when comparing how much food and milk your child is eating to your friends’ children

  • You did baby led weaning and introduced vegetables first but have found that your toddler has started to refuse everything in sight

  • You just need reassurance and someone to chat to about what's even normal when it comes to children's eating

Sometimes, reading all the information online and going to a weaning workshop isn't quite enough to give you the reassurance you need when feeding your child.

It’s understandable to have worries and concerns – going from milk, to introducing solid foods and then joining family mealtimes, are huge steps fr everyone. A leap into the unknown. If you've had issues with your own relationship with food in the past, then you might be determined to set your baby up with the right eating habits from the start.

As a baby & child nutritionist, this is where I can help.

I had a 1:1 with Katie and would thoroughly recommend her. She helped ease my anxieties surrounding weaning. She gave such knowledgeable and personable advice, it really helped reassure me that we are on the right path and to enjoy this next stage!!

Getting help with fussy eating and feeding

In a 1:1 consultation, I can spend MORE time focusing on the areas that YOU are finding difficult in more detail than is possible in an online workshop.

By having a video consultation, we can focus on what’s important to you, the eating environment that your child is in, and how the dynamics at mealtimes are playing out.

We can look together at creating a plan that works for you and your family, that will really help you to improve the mealtime experience for you and your child.

We can do all of this at a time to suit you, without having to rush or find parking!

What to expect

Prior to our feeding consultation, I will ask you to complete a questionnaire, giving me some more details about the areas that you need support with. I might ask you to record what food is eaten and when for a few days, or even to record one of your mealtimes.

After our video consultation, you will get a written report of what was discussed, or a copy of the recording to watch back - ideal to revisit the strategies with a partner, parent or childcare provider. Additional follow-up support is available to help you implementing any changes.

If there is something that requires more specialist support, eg from a dietitian or speech and language therapist, I will always refer you on to the relevant qualified person.
